Alex Marquez Ends Le Mans MotoGP Race Pointless After Double Crash
Alex Marquez left the Le Mans MotoGP race on Sunday without scoring any points after suffering two crashes that forced him out of contention.
Although his first incident at Turn 3 was relatively minor and he managed to rejoin the race, a subsequent crash in the final sector several laps later ultimately ended his participation.
Coming into the weekend as the championship leader, the Spaniard now finds himself trailing his older brother Marc Marquez by 22 points after the disappointing outcome.
Marquez gave a detailed account of both crashes, taking full responsibility for what happened and explaining why the second fall was particularly frustrating.
“It is what it is, and I can’t be satisfied after crashing twice and leaving with nothing,” he told GPOne after the race.
“Until then, I had done almost everything right, though Zarco had the best strategy—even if it was too much of a gamble for my position in the championship.
“I felt I was making the right decisions at the right times, keeping my lead over Acosta in check.
“After overtaking Bezzecchi, I tried to settle in and perhaps relaxed too much. I approached Turn 3 slower, used less brake, leaned more, and lost the rear even with the throttle closed.
“But it was the second crash that really frustrated me. The handlebar was bent, I lost my aero wings, and I shouldn’t have let that happen—those ten points could be crucial.”

Despite the crashes, the Gresini rider remains optimistic and believes the experience will help him become a tougher competitor moving forward.
At 29, Marquez is choosing to focus on the positives and look ahead to the rest of the season with renewed determination.
“Every race teaches me something, whether it turns out good or bad,” he said.
“Some weekends are harder to accept than others. This one was definitely tough, but I’m encouraged because I showed good speed on a track where I’ve struggled in the past—both in dry and wet conditions.
“In the end, the weekend had some positives. I just need to keep this momentum. The lesson I learned here will help me come back even stronger.”
