One of the Baltimore Ravens’ own players is being let go. Christian Matthew, a cornerback, was placed on injured reserve for the entire 2024 season after joining the team. The organization decided not to tender Matthew, who was a restricted free agent, and instead allowed him to become a free agent.
Matthew has played for the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, and Ravens. The Cardinals selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he only played there for one season. In October of 2023, he joined the Bears’ practice squad after being waived in the summer.
Matthew has three pass deflections and 20 tackles so far in his NFL career. Since 2023, he has not participated in a game. Starting at Georgia Southern, Matthew had a fast-paced college career that included two transfers to Samford and Valdosta State last.
After missing a season because of an injury sustained while playing with the Ravens, the 28-year-old cornerback will be looking to find a new home this offseason.
