After nine games, starting linebacker Tyrel Dodson was cut by the 4-5 Seattle Seahawks on Monday, which was an unexpected move. Dodson, an undrafted free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft, first appeared in the NFL after being accused of domestic violence during his collegiate years.
After playing for the Buffalo Bills for four seasons, he was selected as a starter in 2023 after logging 74 tackles, eight tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, and 2.5 sacks in 17 games. The Texas A&M graduate signed a one-year, $4.26 million contract to start for the Seattle Seahawks after leaving Buffalo in free agency. With 71 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, three quarterback hits, two sacks, and a 65.8 PFF grade—the 35th-best among 83 qualified players—the veteran appeared to have played well. A team like the Los Angeles Chargers or Baltimore Ravens could use a guy like Dodson, but Seattle determined the squad is better off without him despite these signs of great play.
Ravens, Chargers Could Sign Tyrel Dodson After Unceremonious Cut
Despite poor performance from their usually strong defense, the Baltimore Ravens are 7-3. The squad, which had the best depth chart in football the previous season, lost a number of important free agents and lacked the funds to adequately replace all of the departing players.

Jim Harbaugh’s Defense

Harbaugh should be able to get the most out of this motley crew of linebackers with the help of all three dividing work.
